A sinner's prayer

A sinner's prayer

A Poem by Diamond Dunbar

Dear Lord,

I’ve lost me, trying to find you.

Yes, I am aware of the things I shouldn’t do.

Yes, I am aware that those things won’t bring me closer to you!

The temptations of my past consume me.

The barriers I’ve broken are rebuilding.

Father, have you forsaken me?

Have you remove your good grace for me?

Because everything I’m facing is breaking me not making me.

Forgive me, for I have sinned.

Undoubtedly do it again, somehow the Devil got in.

Please forgive me for my knowing and unknowing sins…..

This reminds me of something I wrote a few years back when it felt like God was putting me thru too many tests, so I had to be straightforward with Him in a letter. These are the best prayers. What I love about yours is that you aren't trying to be goody-two-shoes, nor are you lambasting yourself mercilessly. Your point of view is quite a bit like God Himself, in that you seem to be accepting of your mistakes, while you also try to learn from them & improve. I'm sure God is pleased with such an attitude of remorse mixed with resolve.
