Ignorance is bliss

Ignorance is bliss

A Poem by Diamond Dunbar

Ain't this some s**t

How the thought of you makes me sick.

Remember how you use to say I was a trip.

But you never was prepared one bit.

If you looked into my eyes more.

You could've caught a glimpse.

Good thing you didn't

Cause it wouldn't have meant s**t.

Keep your feelings to yourself now

Ignorance is bliss.

I really love this poem for the way it conveys a sense of crude disgust & being totally finished with a bad situation. I also get hints that the narrator is not an educated person, but the expressions used are not exaggerated, so as to be mocking a person in this position. The judicious use of swearing is impactful, not distracting. All in all, it just goes in for the kill in a most satisfying way. The last 4 lines are especially well written & believe me, this person probably won't be returning to try again. This is what you say to a person you truly never want to see again. I love the quiet intensity burning thru-out.

Looks like the dude completely lost on this one. Your message is loud and clear. Expressed strong feelings. Sometimes you only get one chance. Richie B.
