Far From Shore

Far From Shore

A Poem by thedarkrocket

Away, away, waves pushing you far from shore
Arms held stiff, reaching for sand, air slowly slipping your palm
Cries for help overshadowed by the oceans wind
Tears falling in the darkness of sweet salty water

Truly time is untouched, unknown how long you've been afloat
You feel the weight of the sea in your heart, your name is lost
Are you breathing or sinking, crushed by its force, or are you
Loved by the creatures far below, taking you as their companion

But they can't have you, you don't belong, the sea is not your home
My boat is coming, you don't have to have to tread much longer
Heart over mind, your feelings stronger than your toughest thought
Is there anything you can't overcome, a question that seems
Unclear as the water that we are about to conquer

If time could tell a story, each minute worth one thousand words
Your heart would have my ear as the hands kept us standing still
The water grows colder, unkind and tempting with darkening ease
Forever changing, always with a new way to push you under

Away, away, you've drifted out but the sea cannot keep me away
I'm near, can you hear my voice, it takes battle to the wind
Your heart and soul proves that you are never too far from shore
May I join you, it's much closer when you're not alone
