Caged

Caged

A Poem by The Darkest Muse
"

This is the only poem my father ever said was good...how odd and full of ironic humor that it was about him...and he didn't get it.

"

I want to run
From the confines of this present cage
I want to defy your rules
And make my dreams come true
But as the moon rises
And shines like white bone on bars of steel
That are far stronger then my will could ever be
I feel the despair of broken wings
If I dare stretch them too far
I'll starve myself
Till I can slip through them
Or my spirit leaves me
And moves on to places my body could not reach
Thanks to arms and lock and key
My soul you've managed to break
Like a horse you've had your eye on.
And you ride hard across the desert
Full of hopeful dreamers
Slapping my side should I dare look them in the eyes
Riding too hard
Till water and shade are sweeter then life
The sweat breaks my flesh in two
Reminding me I am caged
Forever.

About
I am what my name says. I don't write poetry about flowers, birdies or cute little babies. My poetry is raw and bleeding, under floorboards and screaming. I write what I write because its a reflection.. more..
