Fire water ignites my soul

Fire water ignites my soul

A Poem by Isaiah Dunn
"

My interpretation of how alcohol affects me.

"

When I drink.

My temper ignites.

It has always been a cold reminder of just how much I’ve wanted to end my own life.

But then the fear sets in, and I start to reevaluate.

Just how truly terrifying it would be, to never again feel the warmth of the sun against my face.

So blindly I will charge into the black of the unknown.

To finally face the souls that have been gone for too long.

And if I return; Then I have reclaimed my own soul.

And from there any trail I follow will be my own.

"And if I return; Then I have reclaimed my own soul.
And from there any trail I follow will be my own."
I believe the power of a poem greatly depends on how the writer decides to close it. And these last verses are so powerful! Well done!
Also, I think it's a brilliant idea to put a full stop at the end of every verse. This effect creates a dramatic pause resembling the way we generally tend to drag our speech when we had too much to drink.

Hey. Thank you so much for reviewing my post several months ago. I've only just seen it now. As for this it is poignantly painful. I am a drinker also, but I dont fight anymore. But depression is rage turned inwards, so I feel sympathy with this piece.

I'd be pleased of youd review other writings of mine, I'll cerinally read more of yours.

Ella.
