Oxygen

Oxygen

A Story by Isaiah Dunn
"

If i had to describe you

"

I guess if I had to describe you you’re like oxygen. See when it’s always there you never really focus on it. I mean you may think about it every now and then but you never fully appreciate it.

Now think about when you’re really deep underwater. When you realize you need air so you start heading to the surface but you didn’t realize just how far up that actually is. Then that’s when you feel it. That feeling of suffocating.

How a soft pressure sinks on your chest as you feel your lungs start to burn from the lack of air. That feeling of panic sets in and now you’re doing everything you can just to get that breathe of air to save your life.

Within that moment you’d give anything to be able to breathe like you used to. Then you get that breathe and relief floods into your body as oxygen is brought back to your system.

That’s what you’re like. When I’m with you I don’t realize how much I need you. Then you leave and it feels like I’m suffocating. That’s how I knew I needed you.
