I would have told you...

I would have told you...

A Poem by Isaiah Dunn

If I would have known that today would be the last day you were in my life.
Then I would have told you just how much you meant to me.
I would have told you how your smile lit up my world and how the laugh you hated so much chased all of my fear and pain away.
I would have told you that you’re beautiful even if you cant see it.
I would have told you that the scars on your wrists should be worn as a trophy that screams a giant F**K YOU to the world that has tried so many times to kill you.
I would have told you that I needed you so much more than you could ever have needed me.
If I would have known that this would be the last day.
Then I would have begged you to stay.
Because it wasn’t until you had gone away.
That I finally found the words I was supposed to say.

F**k format. If it evokes emotion from the author and reader, then it's damn good poetry to me. Time waits for no one, but you found the words in the end. It was easy to read and I like the rawness.
