Such a Lovely Father's Day

Such a Lovely Father's Day

A Poem by Katie Flores
"

father figures. oh goodie -_-

"
Why didn't you love me?
Was the pain really that big?
To leave me?
In a grave alone to dig?

Is this what you want to hear?
Strain galore,
And a "Daddy Complex" to boot?

There's a couple of phrases I'd like to say,
Two word ones,
That end with "you"

Something like:
"F" you
"S" you
"D" you

You know,
Forget you,
Slander you,
Deny you.

Was I supposed to jump up and down,
Happy and glad
That you SAID you'd be around?
But I'll tell you,
It's not me who is the clown.

Fathers who abandon,
You are both at fault,
Fingers pointed at your actions,
Lines pulled taunt.

So what do you want to hear?
Tell me so I may sing,
Wait, no, I will stay silent,
Because I will not praise a false king

You will not earn my love,
no use in trying,

Fathers who abandon
You will forever stay
Out of my mind and out of my damn way.

Author's Note

Katie Flores
the first two letters with quotation marks are a little bit of dark humor... irony, considering the "Daddy Complex".
