One More for the Books

One More for the Books

A Poem by Katie Flores
"

what is wrong with us?

"
How to describe the angst?
By saying what would give me pain?
Oh that would be easy, and I will comply;

pain, forgetfulness, Isolation,
fear, dominance, abandonment,
"people killin', children hurtin'- even cryin'"

Yet I see another way.
One to relate the joys,
To show the angst.
To defeat it.

Love, Hope, Caring, Friends, Remembrance
Babies laughing, Stands Cheering, Wedding Nuptials

"When you practice what you preach would you turn the other cheek?"

But with all these great things I see,
Whose happiness fills my whole heart,
The heaviness stares down at me,
Making me feel finished before I start.
