To Carol Ann Duffy

To Carol Ann Duffy

A Poem by TheBumblebee
"

Something that needs saying by somebody.

"

It’s not necessarily the onion

That makes my eyes water

Rather that your talentless genes

Were passed onto a daughter

Nor is it the attitude

Of disregard to verse

Rather that a woman was chosen

Simply to be first

What is is perfectly clear

Your blatant lack of elegance

What matters aren’t critics

But readers, thought and resonance

How many hours wasted?

Snatched by some old harpy

That woman couldn’t write her name

Let alone codswalloping malarkey

A vegetable isn’t love

Nor is some ice a prize

Forget this boring bandwagon

Open your bloody eyes!

She doesn’t deserve a title

It’s brazenly absurd

Wake up bloody Britain

Kick her to the curb!

Author's Note

TheBumblebee
Duffy is the current poet laureate here in the UK and funnily enough, one of the worst writers in existance. I wrote a scathing piece of coursework about her which i then condensed into this poem. This is the woman that thinks "texting is a form of poetry" and has been mind raping GCSE students for the last few years. Shameful....

I like this very much. Intriguing. Now I must be off to find something of hers...

ummmm, I had to go and find something of hers . . . can't say I was impressed. Amazing when bureacreacy of poets promotes something so ordinary.

I spend more time reading and less time sleeping, hardly surprising for a bookworm really. I'm a manic Shelley fan, with Lord Byron and Mr Keats following in close pursuit. Also a fan of Sade, Plato, .. more..
