Through the MudA Poem by ~ScreamingSilently~A poem through the eyes of a soilder, I hope you enjoy
Through the Mud
It all feels so far away Like the troubles of another day I look into their empty eyes And up into the open skies Their bodies lay limp upon the ground Not a breath, not a word, not even a sound Moments ago I could believe That our people would one day receive The freedom they so rightly deserve Their hopes and dreams we would preserve But as I look around I see The chaos of war and take a knee They would give a life to defend Your freedom and right to have a friend A sob escapes, so full of feeling The layers of my heart now peeling My hand still covered in their blood I make the long trek back through the mud Must there be so much bloodshed? Is it worth all the tears and words unsaid? Sadly in life there will always be War But we must decide what's worth fighting for.
