Echo of the sea

Echo of the sea

A Poem by Rubein Geterminah
"

There is a contrast between the day and night occurrence of the sea. The day absorbs the echo; the nights awakens it.

"
I reside few stones throw
From the shore
At day
And through its course;
I feel not the constant ragging force
Of the sea or the repetitional sound
On the bay,
Not until I walk to the bound.
Then the day with its many voices ceased.

Night comes as a thief, and the tired
Bones and flesh recline for rest.
But from that untamed sound in my breast,
I suddenly awake fearing a flood
Or an encroaching riot
Marching so hostile; my blood
Boils, but with attentativeness- I realize it's the sea.

Author's Note

Rubein Geterminah
The poem is observatory of nature.
The speaker's unacquaintance with the sea makes him fear a flood or a riot at night when suddenly awaken by the echo.
But during the day, there was no such distractions. Repeated observations make him realize it's the sea.

The hustle of the day absorbs the ocean sound as the silence of night magnifies it. I really like that perspective. A roaring concert beneath the moon.

"Night comes as a thief". That's a cool line. Nice work on this. An enjoyable read for sure.

Likewise:)
This artistic work is one of nature.
The poet was unaccustomed to the echo of the sea when he had resided few miles from the sea shore in 2011.
But it took adjustment to get use to the echo of the sea.
