The Rose and The Holder

The Rose and The Holder

A Poem by TheAnthonyMiller

You are the rose
I am the holder
You are beautiful
But put weight on my shoulder

I held on to you
Despite the thorns and pain
My hands bleed
And I went insane

It’s too late to quit
But too long to keep trying
There were times I laughed
And times I was crying

I’ve held this rose so long
that I can’t let go
The rose grew into my arm
I love the pain I’ve come to know

I love what we go through baby
Because I do it with you
Through all our pain
We can say we grew

You might not want to say
But you know it’s true
Your part of me
And I’m part of you

I can’t get rid of you
And you can’t get rid of me
Open your eyes please
And see the we were meant to be

You are the rose, and I am the holder

I really liked this and can totally relate. The pain of a long suffering broken heart can become so familiar that we depend on it. Great analogy, nice job(:
God bless
