Dig Deep

Dig Deep

A Poem by TheAdventOf

The sun seemed to concentrate every aspect of misery

Onto my pale complexion that day

As I stood on the side of the road

In a grey tank top and jeans

Trying to figure out why the engine

Wouldn’t make the wheels budge

Another inch.

I cursed at it, kicked the wheels, gave up hope,

And sat down with my head resting on my knees

While the tall green grass brushed against my back

On the clearest day Ohio had seen in a while.

In the brief moment of clarity I had

While staring at the pavement between my legs,

I thought about what I would give

To look in the rearview mirror

And have someone tailgating me.

Sure, it’s frustrating

But it’s movement.

Your detail is so... extremely well orchestrated. You're a very talented poet. This poem is great.

First off, I'm going to point out a typo in the second to last stanza "While stating at the pavement" I think you mean "staring."

Other than that... I really loved this poem. It's so detailed and descriptive and keenly realistic. The simplistic insight is wonderful. You described everything so vividly, making the reader visualize this as if it were a scene in a movie or television show. The ending was wonderful, so blunt and simple... really striking. Great job with this one. I adore it.
