Old Sorrows

Old Sorrows

A Poem by E
"

Wounds heal, but always leave a scar.

"

An innocent question

That's all you asked

And I was happy to answer

Then you mentioned a name

Someone we both knew

Each question bringing back memories

But not in a good light

At least not for me

I shouldn't be sad

Not anymore

I haven't been for awhile

So much I miss

It doesn't matter now

Just another one of those times

Reawakening old sorrows

Ones I don't really have anymore

Yet they still come

And I'll sit in irrelevant sorrow

Things are better now

No harm really done

The memories mostly stay pleasant now

But sometimes the memories take a darker turn

Leaving me to sit and wonder

Why did it have to happen like that?
