Blindness

Blindness

A Poem by E
"

A poem I wrote about human arrogance. This poem was included in the 2012 edition of Urban Voices

"

Humans have the gift of sight, but I believe we have all gone blind

Flattening our forests, we exhaust the Earth with our incessant need to depreciate its value

We construct our weapons to eliminate the lives of those who surround us

We greedily consume our food, while others lips are prohibited to taste due to their misfortune

We witness those whose slumber is without shelter, yet we close our doors

And, yet despite what we observe, we are oblivious to the damage we cause

Our lives remain unscathed for now

Maybe if we opened our eyes, our world would become a better place

Author's Note

E
This is formatted a bit differently than the others (it was written a year ago and a lot has changed for me since then). Same rules as always apply and I wonder if you agree with what I'm saying with this, and also is my choice of words (I.e. I believe we have all gone blind) okay, or should I have chosen something else?

I think this is good it addresses a point that needs to be addressed. I also think that we all need to open our eyes and alert others that they need to as well.

Thanks, glad you agree to me on the general ignorance of humanity :)
