The Next Chapter

The Next Chapter

A Poem by E
"

A poem I wrote for someone describing life and it's troubles and fears.

"
Darkness, tragedy, sorrow
That's what the story was
With every turn of the page it drifted further away from the light
I thought the torment would end, but when things were looking up, the next chapter revealed more sorrow ahead
Page by page, chapter by chapter nothing got better
It began to get unbearable, impossible to read
I wondered which turn of the page would cause me to throw the book down in rage and end it there
I'd sit there, unable to do anything
Every chapter brought weakness, and helplessness to me
I stared at the next one, wondering if I should continue
The chapter emanated darkness, a terrible aura coming from the pages
I gave the page a reluctant turn, bracing myself for what tragedy would befall me next
Within a few pages, I started to cry
Not out of sorrow, but happiness
I cried because I was wrong, so wonderfully wrong
