Santa FrostA Story by Blayk McCartneyI was bored last year and wiki-ed the origins of Santa Clause and discovered something interesting which turned into a theory I wrote. its not big or anything, but its interesting!
Once upon a time Old Man Winter -or Father Winter- was a grand old man that was the personification of winter and all that winter is. Father winter is also an older name for Father Christmas, a spirit filled with Christmas cheer and good will. he encouraged spending time with friends and family and eating plenty with them. he was not about buying things for others like Santa he also wore green instead of red. This was back some time as you can imagine because when was the last time you've heard of this character. I'm pretty sure he predates North American colonization -correct me if I'm wrong- and went on until the western world got more commercial. when we started having more tech and easy travel, stuff like that. by that time the idea of Father Christmas changed.
Father Christmas was the figure for Christmas spirit but he was eventually changed out for Santa Clause, the new figure of Christmas spirit and a big promoter for turning Christmas into a commercial holiday centered around gift giving more then quality time with family and friends -though that is still a big thing. Santa, our modern Christmas figure came from Father Christmas. The next thing is where did out other modern Winter figure come from; Jack Frost. Funny thing about that, his origin is the same as Santa's. Jack was originally Old Man Winter, the original western figure representing winter. End conclusion: Santa and Jack are, or at least were, the same person. Old Man Winter! Merry Christmas friends!
