In The ClosetA Story by Blayk McCartneyA dark short story about a father, his son, and the monster in the closet. Every
night for a year, a little boy went into his father's room complaining of
monsters in his closet. The father would tell the boy that it was okay,
monsters don't like the way little boys taste, go back to bed. And so every
night, he did. Suddenly,
the little boy stopped coming into his father's room every night. The father
didn't sleep soundly with his nightly routine interrupted, but after a few
weeks, everything settled down and went back to normal. In
the dead of winter, in the middle of a storm, the power went out. "Dad,
there's monsters in my closet!" he heard from the doorway of his bedroom.
He immediately got out of bed and went to console his son. In
the morning, when his wife woke up to an empty bed, she searched everywhere for
him before calling the police. When they finally found his body, it was
surrounded by small, bloody handprints. "Is
your son missing as well?" the police asked the woman. She
shook her head, in tears. "No, he's been dead since the end of summer. We
found him suffocated inside his closet.” © 2013 Blayk McCartneyAuthor's Note
