If I Never Awoke

If I Never Awoke

A Poem by Tim Schultz
"

That's life, man.

"
If I never awoke this morning,
I never would have gave you my love,
My darling.

If I never awoke this morning,
I could not have attended our trees;
The sad leaves!

If I never awoke this morning,
I would not have fed our birds their seed,
Poor Starlings!

But alas, trees always lose their leaves,
and birds always will build a new nest,
Just like you.

If I never awoke this morning,
I am certain the world would go on,
Without me.
