Remnants of a Still Strong Emotion

Remnants of a Still Strong Emotion

A Poem by Steven Hicks

Whether it be old or new

Her or you

Love it is said

Always proves true

Right or wrong

Decisions are made

Hearts healed and broken

With truth or charade

To hurt and heal

Pain we feel

Regretted wrongs

The end of this story's reel

To begin anew

A second chance

All hail

The lost romance

Happy endings

Forlorn beginnings

We all collect

From pain's winnings

But to rise again

To make it through

Out of the ashes

The same love renewed

The curtain is closing

They've taken score

But will we surprise them

Do we have an encore

I love just how much emotion is put into this poem. Struggling with a past or current love situation is indeed quite a difficulty to put up with. And in this poem, you've shown that greatly. The rhyme is very good and isn't forced at all like the previous person has said. And I really get a good picture of all that is going through your mind as you were writing this. Wonderfully done, Steven.

Very nice. I like your format here and the way you have set off certain stanzas with more end rhymes. Although rhyming can often make a poem seem forced, in this poem, I really think it works to make the poem even more free-spirited.

Well since this is a writing site I'll start with that. I became interested in writing while in the eighth grade writing fanfics of my favorite animes. Poetry became an interest later and that is no.. more..
