A Poet's Dream

I think we can all relate.

I want to write something,

Be it poem, novel, or story

Something to be remembered

Regardless of category

Don't take this for an ego

I don't want to sound perverse

But I think I have some semblance of skill

In terms of rhyme and verse

Flowing with rhythm

Riding with tone

Let my words take you

To places unknown

Allow me to influence

Permit me to guide

Lessons can be learned

Knowledge can't be tied

Look through my eyes

Though, vicariously

Picking my mind

Will allow you to see

Maybe something new

Or just a different perspective

My hope simply that

You become more reflective

Alas, my job is to entertain

I'm merely a 2nd class poet

Never to rise to Shakespear's greatness

But man it sucks to know it
