Times Debate

Times Debate

A Poem by Vincent Maltese

Times Debate,

Reasons wonder why.

No eifel tower.

No stars left in the sky.

Grass turns brown,

Sun Shaded grey

No tellig the diference

Between the night and day.

Oceans black

Wind a stagnant breath

There is no life, left to love.

The day is only death.

Although this poem seems outwardly simple, it spoke volumes to me. I'm not sure if you intentionally meant it to, but it really conveys the Buddhist sense of "dukkha" (suffering) and impermenance. The simple language is straight to to the point, something I find to be very worthy in a good piece. You grabbed my attention, you held my interest, and you made me think...three things I think all good poetry should do! As far as the rhyme scheme goes, I think you did a nice job in your word choices. nothing seems overly forced. The ending was splendid!! Great piece, thanks for sharing!
