Why Flowers Bloom So Well

Why Flowers Bloom So Well

A Poem by Creepy Swine Guy

A lady walked the river,
   With anguish in her eyes.
“Why must I be lonely !?”
   She wondered as she cried.

There was no revelation,
   No lightning in the sky.
No whispers to her in the wind,
   No explanations why.

Head held low, she wept
   And went along her way.
The pups that she was walking,
   Continued with their play.

Then on the trail ahead,
   An older man appeared.
The loving, kindness in his eyes,
Was clear as she drew near.

He smiled as he said “Hello”,
   And patted both the dogs.
He pointed to some flowers,
As they sat upon a log.

“Do you ever wonder,
Why flowers bloom so well ?
Listen close my child,
   Their secrets I will tell.

It’s not within the flower.
   It’s not within the ground.
It’s not within the water.
It’s in your hearts, I’ve found.

You know that every flower
   Requires special care.
You know that if you love them first,
   The beauty will be there.

With each other, you’re so different.
   You want the beauty first.
Without it, you withhold your love,
Then ask me why you’re cursed.

Now go my child, dry your eyes,
   And find yourself a seed.
Find a man who’s heart is pure,
Who yearns to fill your needs.

Find a seed that’s in the dirt,
   Tread upon so long.
Give him love and care, you’ll see
 I’m almost never wrong !”

He smiled as he held her hand,
   And gave a kindly stare.
“Trust me child I’m always close,
   I hear your every prayer.”

this reminds me of the famous 'footprints' poetry that is so often reprinted (for good reason). it is simple and filled with hope, but still manages to be delicate of emotion and down-to-eart with its perspective. One minor point:
Do you ever wonder
Why flowers bloom so well ?
Listen very close my child,
Their secrets I will tell.

this reads a little off, i am not sure why. perhaps its the sylable count, or the rhythm, it just seems to be missing a word or two.

though i will say this is one of the best peices of poetry that can be truly designated as both romantic and real, and still suitable for every mindset and audience.

Awwwww!!!

That was so purty I almost shed an unmanly tear.

Yes ! We old guys are pretty god-like. Always to the
rescue of some poor lass.

All kidding aside, your poem is a classic, it is very nice in
every possible way. I would say that it is the work of a
professional.

Congratulations ! Your poem is probably the best thing on
Cafe`.

My favorite.

I found my way back here. Don't ask me how. It's just something in the way leads on to way. And if the last time I read this I found it lovely, soft and sweet; today I only marvel at the wisdom in the words.

I love the story and the correlation between flowers and people. You have a nice surprise at the end as to who the man is. Very well written and cleverly done!

Okay and now you've made me cry...good thing I have some chocolate in the house or you'd be in big trouble mister! Seriously though this was really beautifully written Jerry. The title drew me in and your writing just captivated. Another for my favorites...because this is definitely something I want to read when I'm having a bad day. :)

Jerry this has the feel of being a simply put, but epic masterpiece. There are layers to this beyond the words. So much is conveyed about beauty, love and faith. Gorgeous.
