wow GH loved this one, I often sit out on my deck in the mornings with my coffee cup. Love listening to the birds sing in the mornings. Wonderful way to wake up.
Also love sitting out there at night with a glass of wine and just staring up at the stars.
Wonderful poem
oh love this. usually if something hits me on the porch - its a beer can from the neighbors yard....not really but my surroundings hardly breed poetry...
Are you hiding something in this poem? .. where is your gnome? Oh that's right, it's far to "creepy" for such an elegant poem as this one here. If you can see all this from your porch, you have a great view of the world.
There are a couple of phrases here that, to my mind, don't do justice to the full splendor of this scene, because every time we step into this quotidian miracle we are arrested anew with impressions fresh and unconventional. However, if you were aiming for the familiarity of such a landscape, then they work for me ("dew-sparkled grass" is an example; it doesn't detract, but I find myself wanting more description). But I'm turning into a creative writing professor here. My absolute favorite line is "soaked yard where squirrels romp" - yes, that's different, and yet exactly how it is. I like the holistic sense of this, the way that things that are utterly "ordinary" incite our spirits to soar.
Your words bring to mind the perfect picture. To be one with the morning, with nature. I can almost hear the rustle of the trees and feel the breeze on my skin as I read this. Nicely done. :)
