I think you were .. or maybe, just maybe, your mind was full of other things!
It is amazing though how, after a long or short winter, suddenly repays us with a blazing spring .. colours jump and hits us gently in the eyes and in the senses and suddenly, we smile .. and, looking forward
I love this poem .. it's warm and giving and shows awareness.
LOL...That's good. You have the same feelings about winter's gray as I do. I love how you started this out with the dreary and then "popped in" the spring surprise.
I was just saying to someone the other day, that it wasn't long ago that we had oodles of snow on the ground. Out of nowhere the trees were in bloom, and I asked, "How did that happen so fast?!" This poem is wonderful.
I like that resigned feeling of going through the motions, opening curtains and blinds and then that sudden shock of colour, spring is here. Nicely captured!

I think this kind of beauty is always best expressed as a sudden revelation. To wake up to something like this is wonderful, and to realize that you may missed a little bit of it through preoccupation may even make it moreso. I love how it ends on a question.
i love this... it is a reminder of the beauty that can always sneak up and surprise us.... something that i never stop appreciating... really nice little poem :)
