Where Was I?

Where Was I?

A Poem by Creepy Swine Guy

I pull a drape and lift a blind
to look upon the grimy snow and
dreary shades of winter gray.

To gauge the howling winds and
the biting cold that stalk me; waiting
for me to venture from my warm sanctuary.

GREENS!! VIVID VIOLETS and YELLOWS.
Gleaming sunshine cast on trees arrayed in white
blossoms; and birds lit upon branches
singing their songs.

Who threw the switch and where was I?
Asleep?

I think you were .. or maybe, just maybe, your mind was full of other things!

It is amazing though how, after a long or short winter, suddenly repays us with a blazing spring .. colours jump and hits us gently in the eyes and in the senses and suddenly, we smile .. and, looking forward

I love this poem .. it's warm and giving and shows awareness.

I like the ALL CAPS colors in the seventh line. They not only startle the reader into an awareness of the writer's changed point of view but give us a sense of the wonder and joy "you" found on the other side of that blind. There really is a sense of amazement at times at the changes Nature can throw at us while we are busy doing other things. Thumbs way up.

I have felt this feeling of amazement when one day all the flowers burst open and the birds sing. Your poem captures this feeling well. I look forward to reading your other poems.

I have not read any poems by you I don't think.
This is good and makes me feel happy knowing as one season ends
another begins even when we don't notice..
Very nice writing!

Spring does seem to hit you over the head without warning, doesn't it? lol. Loved the screaming of colors in the last stanza. This one reminded me of your poem of how a house can become a prison, which it does feel like in the gray of winter.

Nice! Spring does tend to show up like the flip of a switch. :)

This is quite deep really...perhaps I'm reading too much into it because I can relate. Isn't that what poetry is supposed to do though...be all things to all people.

Indeed! I love this. Well done.
