A Discussion With Lord Darwin

A Discussion With Lord Darwin

A Poem by Creepy Swine Guy

Lord Darwin, I fear I must question your work.

Humanity seems to have gone quite berserk.

Your theory says species will cull out their worst,

But mankind seems to have done the reverse.

With the passage of time, you say we should learn.

Yet we find better ways to kill, and to burn.

So when do we learn sir? When do we evolve?

We have people to feed ... and problems to solve.

The flaw in your thoughts, Lord Darwin, it seems,

Is the question of what the word “fittest” might mean.

Are the fittest the brutes, who so mindlessly kill?

Or are they the ones who live with good will?

“Fittest” and “strongest”, they are not quite the same.

This confusion's the root of humanity’s shame.

i just wrote and recently posted a piece that mentions Darwin. I've never been a fan of the idea of darwinism, because it IS about cutting out the weak. Perhaps true in the animal kingdom, but humans are not all heartless like that... some still try to do good and help their fellow man when they are in need. You bring a refreshing point of view, you'd make Darwin rethink the definition of what the "fittest" really means for sure. Great write Creeper

The evolution of man is like they said in the Matrix. Humanity is not unlike that of a virus. We seem to evolve only to concur our host, which is that of the world.

Great Write!

I like this poem a lot. It has a solid message and the rhyme held up the flow. This poem was carefully planned and it is a very nice read.

this is a brilliant observation. I would hope that Darwin did not consider the honing of the killing machine to be an acceptable adaptation in his theory. Astute and clever piece which incorporates a bit of history, science, and social justice. nicely written.

I had to read this piece! As both a biologist and a spiritual person the title grabbed me. I love this piece b/c it truly captures the failures of humanity. Amongst all our achievements the truth is as a species we have failed to become better human beings. But with the big ego's that we "as a species" have we are to proud of all we have done, and well the means justifies the cost, right? So sad but true. Your piece captures that blindness of the world to see the truth. I love the way in which you address Darwin, it carries the piece well and forces the reader to question the vale of humanity both ethically and scientifically.

Well written Creeper...do address it again. I love to learn, but if we find someone's flaw, we need to find how that person derived to that conclusion, and not by what someone might say, but instead what really cause them to drift down that river. Nice write.
