If I choose to drink a bottle of water instead of a can of soda, will it affect the lives of thousands, perhaps millions of people twenty-five years into the future? Can the fall of a raindrop into a pond alter the course of human events? Perhaps ... perhaps not. Some believe that there are no insignificant events. They believe that the fluttering of a leaf to the ground can and will change the course of history because all events are interconnected.
I watched a movie once that reminds me of this.. can't remember the name, but this corporation developed time traveling and used to it take groups of people back in time, 'field trips' if you will, to see the dinosaurs. The tourists were instructed to stay on the path laid out, but during one trip someone stepped out of the marked path and squashed a butterfly.. thus creating a literal ripple effect.. with each ripple came a drastic change to the present and they had to find a way to fix the mistake before the last ripple...
i can see if everyone went back and squashed all the butterflies, maybe some effect would happen like that.. but one occurance causing such a change? honestly, i find it hard to wrap my belief around that. fate, nature.. these things are not fragile. They have a way of balancing themselves out.
anyway, i'm not relating this to your work at all just reminded me of something i saw once. I am interested to read more. And i think you'll take the plot through interesting spins.
Interesting, nice way to think about things, but it is also very scary to think that... Now I'm hesitant to put this because it might alter the course of history... For better or for worse...
Interesting Prologue. There is also a movie out where it shows a person getting off a bus. It shows his life if he turned left, and his life if he turned right. Nice start. Rain..
