Minutes

Minutes

A Poem by Creepy Swine Guy
"

Tick Tock, Tick Tock.

"

We spend our
Time chasing fortunes.
Years spent in college
Or scratching and clawing
Up rungs of workplace ladders.

We spend our time
Amassing our fortunes
However large or small,
And then we struggle to
Decide how to spend them.

All the while,
The one commodity
That holds the most value
Streams through our
Fingers like sand.

You can save your
Dollars and your gold.
You can protect your possessions
But you cannot save
Your minutes.

Spend your minutes
Wisely. You can
Never get them back.
My father ran out

Of minutes last week.

What a lesson to be learned and shared. The loss of a father is tough to take - I lost mine last August and I asked myself the same question - where did the time go.... time I had hoped to spend much much differently. This is lovely in it's message and the bittersweet truth of making choices and having life make the decisions.....

I am so glad that I stumbled on this work of yours. I agree entirely with the sentiments contained within. My fathers minutes ran out on 21st June 2012 - Brian 'Dick' Pettitt, always with 4 t's was a most magnificent man. Keep writing Creepy & I will continue to read. All Good Things, Neville

It's so true and something we have to keep being reminded about. It's so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle. I'm sorry for your loss. It's times like these that really make the impact of how important those minutes are. Very nice poetry here.

Losing a parent or close loved one is so sad for the ones who are left to watch the clock... this looks as if this is a one year anniversary since your father may have passed away and you have my deepest condolences. You leave an important message about time..also a wake up call that with all our struggles, goals and commodities that we can not grasp that of time.

Amazing also that such loss can teach us the importance of life.. I lost 3 grandparents and my father all within 2 years. 3 of them one right after another.. they were all suffering with something but I truly believe that they were interwoven and dependant on each other. Do you believe a person can die of a broken heart.. I do cause I seen it firsthand.

Love is worth more than any money on this earth.. they say we should celebrate when loved ones depart as they are going to a better place.. a high honor.. I don't feel that.. all I feel is the sublime love I had for them missing... like a part of my heart went with them. I know they are in better places.. but my selfishness I can not control.. I would give everything I had to see them one more time. I know I will see them again one day.. I love the way you wrote this.

Very interesting connections are drawn here. Death of parents is indeed a major life experience. Nothing prepares you for it. Yes, I regretted all the time I should have granted to my parents that I did not. Lovely, well constructed item, so logically framed. Greatness to you Blue! Ron

unfortunately life is not like a cell phone, you cannot roll over unused minutes or buy more when you've run out. It's puzzling how we all know time is so valuable yet we continue to chase false fortunate. I hope when my time is up i can leave with a smile and say "what a ride".

my sympathies for the loss of your father, his energy is in you.
