All at once, I love you
and I resent you.

Though you do bring a
storm of color to my
gray existence, the end
of you is the sword of
Damocles that menaces
from above my neck.

You are the barb that
has furtively buried
itself in the soft
underbelly of my soul,
which I know must one
day be torn out.
