Sluggish Moments

Sluggish Moments

A Poem by Creepy Swine Guy

We sit at our desks and
watch them squeeze out.

Tick ... tick ...tick ...
come the seconds, like
brownish drops, clinging
to, then tearing free
 from, a rusted faucet.

These plodding seconds
build our minutes, which
comprise our hours, then
our days, months and years.

If the seconds meander
past so lethargically,
how then, do years built
of these sluggish seconds
so easily elude our grasp?

Once again you manage to capture a sentiment so close to my heart, this concept of life slipping from our grasp even as we wish away the drudgery of these passing moments. Somewhere in our brains there is a wire that crosses at precisely the same spot.

Slowly the seconds build and suddenly the shadow of their construct is long and cold. Time wears so many faces. I enjoyed this one immensely.
