Sheeple

Sheeple

A Poem by Creepy Swine Guy

We are children, not yet wise enough for truth.

Truth is reserved for the elite few, men who are

above Democracy, elected not by the people, but

by the network of 'old boys' from 'good families'.

They know what is best for us and what bits of

truth we can properly digest, … and so they spoon

feed us our day's ration of gruel, and nothing more.

Stimulated by all the right buttons; a flag, an anthem,

uniforms, cellmates to absorb our contempt and fuel

our insecurities, we fall into line, we fall into lock step.

We become afraid of the truth and cling to sound bytes.

After not too long, we no longer need to be watched,

no longer require herding. We come and go at all the

assigned times, and we dare not to dream. We are now

trained to see things as they are, and just ask, “Why?”

While the assassination of John F. Kennedy happened before I was born and I'm not prone to believe in conspiracy theories, I simply cannot get out of my mind the image of him being shot and Jackie Kennedy reaching across the back of the trunk to gather a piece of his skull. I cannot help but ask: If Lee Harvey Oswald shot him from behind, how is that possible? Isn't it more likely that he was shot from the front?

Still, if the evidence given is to be believed, it's hard to believe that he didn't do it. I'm sure this is a question that will never be answered to anyone's satisfacton.

I agree with you on the overall theme of people being 'sheeple.' One only has to look at the elections to see the truth in that.

This is another well-written, concise, and to-the-point poem.

Lee Harvey Oswald as I have never seen him. We have been duly programmed and programmed we shall stay. Very 1984 and Brave New World of you CSW. I hear you loud and clear and so do they. Absolutely love the title.
