Love's Vagabond

Love's Vagabond

A Poem by Creepy Swine Guy

I am love's vagabond, eternally walking
those tracks. Like the rails, love and I are
forever equidistant. But as I look into
the future, I am duped, seduced by the
illusion that out in that distance, those
rails will eventually converge, if only I
will persist, just keep trudging forward.

More likely, you are simply the next in a
sequence of locomotives, lurching along
towards me and yet another bloody
rendezvous. We have both seen this story
before, and we know full well, how it ends.

I love the title and you know how I love the image of walking the tracks hurling hope against the horizon. The picture of this character trudging along, resigned and yet daring to glimpse ahead. "towards that same old bloody point of rendezvous" is a great, vivid line!

Wow, what a great piece. I rarely favorite a poem to read again later, but this one really intrigued me. This is why I joined this site, to be inspired and read great things. This was a great thing,

In the way of reply (NOT review-fishing) I refer you to my poem entitled "But".
this is lovely and melancholy and bittersweet. It makes me ache a little - we all go through this with 'someone'
