Cold summer

Cold summer

A Poem by The Lioness

I miss your warmth in your smile

The heat radiated from your body

I could feel it deep down inside

My personal sunshine

But what turned up the heat?

Till it burnt up my skin

Melting my being

I need to hide from your light

The fore cast is set

Blistering heat

No chance shade

I know what’s in store if I stay

I yearn for the rain

Or a break from the rays

But a parasol is not an option

Your sun must go unrivalled

So I step into the shade

And the dark hides me from you

I push back your heat

And I keep your warmth at bay

Sometimes I sneak a peek

I look out to your sunshine

But I know I can’t take the heat

So I curl up and shiver in the shade
