Waiting For JulyA Poem by The LarkTo the girl that never was
The dull thud of the sinking stone So hard to lift I do not try, Weighs in my heart to make its home, And still I'm waiting for July.
When time will bring its road to close, In ending lead the stranger forth, A second hand, a smile that knows Why fingers intertwined are sought.
To lift the stone, they intertwine And free this heart from gloomy trial, Restoring its forgotten shine So I might kiss that knowing smile.
But, what should July never come To bring the smile for which I yearn? As stones do fade in time for some, Yet me? I fear I'll never learn.
This pain I bare in hand with trust Each ending day and month be true, All roads in time are not unjust, July will come...and bring me you! © 2010 The Lark |
