Struggle For SleepA Poem by The LarkFor all the insomniacs out there
As weary body moves to rest Long past the setting of the sun, This wakeful mind is roused to jest My shattered limbs are not near done.
Whilst trying now to settle in, Malicious and disruptive brain Finds suddenly, its great to spin My droopy head down memory lane.
These sorry eyes make quick to hide When visions swim about the room, But darkness cannot stem the tide And dawn approaches all too soon.
No quick escape, nor remedy Compels my conscious thoughts desist, And desperate action’s quick to see My sodden sheets lie in a twist.
However, time shall prove to mind Its play is dulled by morning light, So brain and body rest in kind Preparing for tomorrows fight. © 2010 The Lark |
