I had an InklingA Poem by The Larka break up sonnet
I
had an inkling, though I kept it hid
With other such disquiets in a box; Pushed to the back of mind, shut with a lid, Which strained to open through my mental locks. You had a crowbar cunningly disguised - Dressed as a coffee, which you kindly bought, And as I drank, the lid you slowly prized To give release that pale and dismal thought. It lingered there between us like a stain Which, being noticed could not be ignored; No hope deferring and no point to feign Such thoughts to boxes might yet be restored. Though now we part, I dolefully accept Our thoughts in boxes cannot be so kept. © 2012 The Lark |
