Cold Rain in Edinburgh

Cold Rain in Edinburgh

A Poem by The Blue Faerie
"

I was walking to an optician's appointment in freezing rain. It was the first time it was starting to feel like winter. I don't know...it just felt right to write a poem about it. Hope you like it!

"
Each step I take
Comes with a splash
Gauzy gossamer mist
Puffs into spiralling clouds

The cacophony of the city
Sings all around.
The growl of the cobbles and tires
The shouts of the ants passing by

The buildings sweat streaks
Of grey and black tears
Melting, sliding into the street.

Shards of rain fall
Crystal cold, freshly painful
Icy spots on my neck
Hair curling from my temples
Wisps spiralling as mist
Clothes prickling against
The edge of my skin

Perching on a corner
A black impermeable cloud
Held over my head
The world spins by
As the cold rain
Falls in Edinburgh.
