Extravagant Lies and Surreptitious Dreams

Extravagant Lies and Surreptitious Dreams

A Poem by Kristian
"

This is a poem about someone that has lied so much, you no longer know who they are.

"
That's a beautiful mask you're wearing.
May I ask where you got it from?
I've never seen anything like it.
No one can tell who you are.
You're a regular thespian of our generation,
An actor through and through.
Can I ask you a question?
Do you even remember who you are?
It must be so exhausting,
Memorizing all those lines.
Do you ever get tired of
Writing your own life?
It must be so lonely
Knowing they really don't care about you.
They fell in love with the stranger
They thought they knew,
The character you've chosen to portray,
The one you created from your
Surreptitious dreams.
I bet you don't even remember
The person you used to be.

Excuse the blue, I didn't realize it would do that when I copied it over from my other website. I'll fix it later, I promise.

Leave it blue, it fits the write, This is wonderful, love the powerful emotions.

LEAVE the blue... it 'highlights' the masking - not detracts.

Good freeverse... Thoughts flow reasonably well... Appropo questions leading to assumed answers. Not the type of poem for emotional attachment. Well said.
