A Poem by Makayla
"

Letting people in is hard.

"

I can tell you about me, but you won’t really know

You may see me, but you won’t know how my emotions flow

You may see a smile, but trust me, I’m crying inside

Or maybe I’m not; maybe just now, I lied

But why would I lie to you, you ask

That’s a good question, but consider this: why would I give up my mask?

What sense would it make to show myself to you, a stranger?

Remember that old rhyme: stranger danger?

So, yea, don’t think about knowing me, because I won’t let you in

Why would I let you in when I barely let my kin?
