Not far behind

This was one of the first poems I ever wrote, back in my teen years. This poem is what sparked my love for poetry and is why I read it to this day.

I have lost everything

Everyone I loved

Everyone who cared

Everyone but you

I can't even remember their faces

Their laughs

Their smiles

You are all I have left

You are all that I love

Don't

Don't leave me

I don't know what I would do

I don't know who I would be

If you weren't there

If you didn't care

If you didn't love

That love is what keeps me strong

That love is what keeps me well

I don't know what I would do without you

I don't know where I would go without you

I can't bear to see you go

I can't bear to see you leave me alone

Alone with the world

Alone with my thoughts

You are what makes me myself

What makes me the person people see

You give me life

You give me happiness

No one could ever do what you do

You are magical

You are mystical

Your smile lights up my mind

Your face warms my heart

Your laugh cures my soul

Don't go

Don't go to the light

I am nothing

A mere mold of your making

I have no other purpose

None other than to make you happy

I can't go on without you

I can't live on in your absence

Without you by my side

I fall victim to my mind

You are my savior

You are my hero

You are my light

I can't see without you

Darkness envelopes me

Death surrounds me 

It calls my name

I try to ward it off

But it reaches out to me

It doesn't have much farther to go

You are what protects me

Your angelic voice calling me

Your outstretched hand always there

Feelings I have never felt without you bubble up inside me

Only there in your presence

To creep back into the darkness once alone

Never to come back until your return

I will never be the same

Now that I know your kindness

Now that I know no one will compare

I now know about your undying kindness

Your perpetual warmth

I will lose meaning 

Lose motive

Why will I wake up

Only to fight the same demons each day and night

Until I wake no longer 

I would finally be happy

Meeting you again

Wherever we may end up

The only escape from my sorrow

The only escape from my hauntings

You are the only alternative to a sweet demise

Take me instead

I will walk your path with you

You may not see me

But I will be there

Holding your hand

Always there

As you were for me

But life has it's way

And on it's end are you

I can't save you anymore

I can only write this to tell you how much I care

I can only write this to tell you

No matter where you go, I will always be there

I will always care

And I will always love

And no matter what

Wait for me, I'm not far behind
