ACCIDENTS

ACCIDENTS

A Poem by Poetry And Current Affairs

 It was all an accident

How you and I met

You almost didn’t say hi

And I almost did not smile

I was merely passing by

And you could have been a minute late

You could have missed our first date

And anything could have happened before or even after that

Like so much has happened between then and now

It’s the rule of time

Unfortunately, Accidents like love too happen

Just Like cars can crash

And I could get caught in a cross fire

Or perhaps have a heart attack

Break up with you a thousand times until

We Loose control of the breaks

And can’t quite grab a hold of the clutch

Find ourselves limping on the crutch of lost time

Because by then it will be too late

i'm late, for my periods

And my tears are a delayed reaction

So maybe chance, could have been me asking you to stay

In the same way

Our first dance could’ve been our last

And the end; A see you tomorrow

Because some goodbyes are subtle

They can be disguised as the warmest hugs

Or the sweetest kisses

But most times they are just abrupt

You know, like Accidents

like baby bumps

like 5 years and you've only seen her twice

like the after effects of speeding cars

like i'm sorry, too many times

like several tries..

like accidents
