Weighted ShouldersA Poem by Thanatos96She's helped me through so much. I only hope that in time I will repay the favor to her.
Ah the end is nigh,
Chronos spare me at last. Or thus he would, If not herein a glimmer I glimpsed. Ere the final breathe be taken A hope inside me wakens Captive in a jar, And hidden deep in the tar. The light i dost see, Begs me to stay, But I've no strength left, So she lends me hers. My shoulders could carry the world And hers carry mine. I watch the world unfurl, Whilst we run out of time. With my humble burden I scale the next mountain The clock's forever turnin', And I wish for more time. My life ebbs away In the infernal pits Of all I've built around me To guard myself From those very people Who would wish me well. The light I dost see Begs me to stay, But I've no strength left, So she lends me hers. The load was once lightened, But I fear the change So someone please, Weighten my shoulders again. I wish for more than this To carry another anew. Batter my shallow walls And ask my love for you. That very light I dost see She demands my soul here stay. With purpose revitalized, I shall make my way. © 2013 Thanatos96 |
