Author's Note

A Modern Hippy
Now, back to one of the more generic and recognisable classes.
Now, I don't know about others, but I get tired of seeing mages just doing the same things over and over again, barely using anything near what they are supposed to be capable of.
I understand how difficult magic is to write about, how it can quickly get out of hand and overpowered, but I find that more spells with more limits is easier and more enjoyable to write AND read about.
So I split the magic that I consider slower and more utility based from the more blast and offence based, identified what I would consider the key skills and spells of such a mage, and tied it together under the title of the 'Runecaster' class, which although not truly original is not defined AT ALL by any book I've ever read; they're just referred to as slow, complex or rune mages, and usually only do a very few limited spells that for the most part have a mediocre effect on plot and characters.
The form of the spells and skills is entirely in the hands of any writer who takes some inspiration from my models.
