Author's Note

A Modern Hippy
A less used and for the most part more generalised character type, the monk to me is an under-utilised and under-appreciated class.
To my understanding of them, the biggest problem for a writer is how best to define a monk class character type within the limits of the world and story they are writing for. When they are used, they are often restrained not so much in capabilities, as are the other standard classes are, but in personality. Writers feel that in order for a monk to be a monk, they must display an appropriate level of what I've termed 'monk-itude'
Cheesy, I know.
Basically, they're usually flat characters with not much to offer in the way of novelistic interaction.
So here I've attempted to set out some limits for the capabilities of the monk class that will ASSIST with defining their own character and personality, at the same time as preserving the diverse nature of their abilities.
The form of the spells and skills is entirely in the hands of any writer who takes some inspiration from my models.
