Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice

A Poem by A Modern Hippy

Dew drops on green grass plains,
Given life by the history of the place.
Spears in the earth, life beside ire,
Arrows born of tree, swords born of fire.

Rivers of blood, veins of flesh,
Ring of steel plate, clink of chain mesh.
Cry of the crow, shriek of the turn,
Cry over wail, the crash and the burn.

Fire and ice, lightning and thunder,
Burning and thumping, shattering asunder.
Theory fight practice, pawn against pawn,
Undo the work of a thousand souls torn.

Dew drops on grass, green leaves of the plain,
Given true life by the history and pain
Of a people long gone, shadows in light,
Through the grey dawn of dusk walk the grey ghouls of night.
