Moonless Night

Moonless Night

A Poem by Ryuri

Moonless Night

In a night
where the moonlit’s absence covers the world,
emptiness spreads through it.

The twinkling stars are faintly glowing,
and only darkness is seen
whenever I gaze upon the world.

The once luminous night
that eases my heart and soul,
illuminates my world
and makes everything seen,
now cloaked by darkness,
devoid of light.

In a moonless night,
the world is hidden out of sight.
In a moonless night,
everything is at rest.

But even so
with the absence of the moon’s radiance,
I still felt its warm embrace.
Amidst the darkest night,
I felt peace.

i feel both the depths of sorrow and the undying strength of this persona. the night is dark, it's dark. yet the moon appears -- not in the sky but in the mind's eye. and as i gaze upon the same moon that you are looking at, i do feel at peace. the contrast of darkness and light in this work is stark and effective. by keeping the attention on the sky, allowing the reader to infer what the persona is feeling was a very nice touch.
a strong piece of writing with emotions i vibed with.
i hope you post new work soon. i'll be sure to read it.
