Stop Them, PleaseA Poem by TexasIt's a poem about schizophrenia. There's someone on my mother's that has it, but it's well controlled. So this is from an outsider's perspective as if they were the one suffering. Why won't they stop? Why do they speak to me? Can't they just leave me alone? I don't want to hear their voices. I just want silence. Is that too much to ask for?
I close my eyes, My mind the voices pry. I cover my ears, The voices intensify. I take the pills that slip from my hand, The voices multiply, More and more.
I can't ignore them, They won't give me peace. Even in death, They'll tear my soul to pieces.
How can I escape this wretched curse. The pills don't work. The quacks and shrinks won't listen.
You're not a voice. You're real, I can touch and feel you. Can you help me? © 2009 TexasAuthor's Note
