This One Is For You Dad

This One Is For You Dad

A Poem by Texas
"

This is for a contest, and I'm gald I ran across it. It's the good times that I'll remeber with Dad.

"

Dad,

You know how much I love you. Eventhough I don't say it as often as I should. We've never been like I am with Mom. I don't let you hear me play my violin or read my poems and stories. Because I want them to be perfect for you. I wanted to be with you for the lamb selections and for prospect shows I went to. The one time you didn't come with me and Mom to the prospect show in Sheldon, I cried on the way home. Not because I didn't place, that was last on my mind, but because you weren't there. I wanted you to take me to my driving test, because you didn't pass the first time (which I may do so) and because you were bad at turns which I am horrible at. It's because you'll know the feeling I'll have of not being able to pass the first time. Something that Mom didn't experience. I want you to be there to walk me down the aisle.

Remember the Father/Daughter Dance, when I was in Girl Scouts? I still have the crosage, it's on the self in my closet. And remeber the roses you gave me for my Sweet Sixteen? Eventhough they're dried up, I still have them. And teh picture I did in oil pastel, the one with the mountain, lake, pine tree and full moon, I gave it to you; not Mom. On my dresser, there's a picture of the two of us. It's next to the picture of me and Jacque at my last district livestock show. I wish I could've placed better, but oh well.

You've given me so much and I don't say "thank you" enough, I know. You should know, that the parent I give this to first, won't be Mom, but you. This is for you. My Daddy. Always and forever.

Toby is a nickname Dad calls me, eventhough I'm a girl. He got it from "The Great Mouse Detictive". Don't ask anymore. It's a secret. :)

Very interesting.
I can tell that you put a lot of your time and love into this letter. I have to admire you for this because not too many people can be brave enough to sit down and write a letter to a loved one... let alone realizing how well they're having it.
Props to you on this one. Try to spell check before posting it (thats my only critique. I do it myself too. Extremely hard to spell these days.)

By the way- the nickname Toby is a very nice nickname. Your father must really love you :)

This actually brought tears to my eyes, I'm not going to lie. It was an excellent read, and very well written. Your writing style flows amazingly. @@

I wish I could be as open with my own father as I am with my mother. Ah, I wish.
